My Story….
Jannette
I am a Scout leader. I am the Unit STEM Coordinator, Pack Trainer,
Webelos and Tiger den Leader, Dean of Cub Scouting for University of Scouting
2017, Webelos Program Director for Cub Scout Day camp and Bobwhite from
S7-599-17! I am a single mother to 4
AMAZING boys who ALL have bio-neurological disorders.
I believe that Scouting changes
lives and I have seen this happen every day in my home. Before we found our Scout family, I found
myself divorced, moving back home, alone, and seeking some guidance and
friends. In order to have my children
learn from a positive male role model, I found a Cub Scout Pack close to me and
my boys and we attended a meeting. It
wasn’t until a new Cub master saw something in me that he felt our boys could
benefit from, that I became involved.
From that moment, as I began
planning Den meetings and fun STEM experiments and outings, I found my passion
and true calling. I mean, Chemical
Engineering is boring and overrated, anyhow right? My true belief in the values, moral, ethics,
and selfless service to others and our community, flows into everything I do
and say in my daily life. My enthusiasm
and energy radiates into the program that I facilitate and can be seen in the
smiles and heard in the laughter, of those who learn and grow as a result.
This
belief and energy fosters my personal commitment to be the absolute best
facilitator, mentor, and role model that I can be. My vision is that every young person will be
able to shape their Scouting experience with the guidance of a fully trained,
dedicated, committed leader, who continuously makes an impact in their
community; who prepares, motivates, and actively engages our youth to be active
citizens; in a world where all youth feel valued, prepared, inspired, and
proud.
I will effortlessly recruit, retain,
motivate, and empower all current, and future Scout, without judgement and
welcome those with any physical, mental, or invisible ABILITIES. I will motivate, encourage, and inspire them
through living the Scout Oath and Law and believing in them; for THEY are the
ones who have the hope, talent, and ideas that will one day change the world
and become our future leaders-all they need is someone to believe in them and
not give up. All youth should only be
limited by their OWN desire to succeed!
-I am a Scout Leader. You can’t look at me and tell that I have
several bio-neurological disorders. You
can’t look at me and tell that I suffer silently with multiple sclerosis…I see
the person and not the labels. Some of
the best and brightest talents come from those facing a difficulty!
